June housing starts (released July 17) decreased 0.9% to 1,253,000 units. Single-family starts increased 3.5% to 847,000 units, while multi-family decreased 9.2% at 406,000 units. Total U.S. permits, an indicator of future construction, decreased by 6.1% to 1,220,000 units (SAAR).

• Northeast (+ 31.3%)
• Midwest (+ 27.1%)
• South (- 9.2%)
• West (- 4.9%)
