SBCA announces June housing starts and building permit data, now available online. Below is a summary for the U.S.

US

June housing starts (released July 19) increased 8.3% to 1,215,000 units. Single-family starts increased 6.3% to 849,000 units, while multi-family increased by 13.3% to 366,000 units. Total U.S. permits, an indicator of future construction, increased by 7.4% to 1,254,000 units (SAAR).

Starts increased in 3 regions:

• Northeast (+83.7%)
• Midwest (+22.0%)
• South (-3.8%)
• West (+1.6%)
