SBCA is pleased to announce September housing starts and building permit data is now available online! Below is a summary.

U.S.
September housing starts (released October 18) decreased 4.7% to 1,127,000 units. Single-family starts decreased 4.6% to 829,000 units, while multi-family decreased by 5.1% to 298,000 units. Total U.S. permits, an indicator of future construction, decreased by 4.5% to 1,215,000 units (SAAR).

Starts increased in 1 region:

• Northeast (- 9.2%)
• Midwest (- 20.2%)
• South (- 9.3%)
• West (+ 15.7%)
