SBCA is pleased to announce the February housing starts and building permit data is now available online! Below is a summary.

U.S.

February housing starts (released March 16) decreased 0.7% to 1,236,000 units. Single-family starts increased 2.9% to 902,000 units, while multi-family decreased by 26.1% to 334,000 units. Total U.S. permits, an indicator of future construction, decreased by 5.7% to 1,298,000 units (SAAR).

Starts increased in 1 region:

• Northeast (-3.5%)
• Midwest (+7.6%)
• South (-7.3%)
• West (-12.9%)
