March housing starts (released April 19) decreased 0.3% to 1,139,000 units. Single-family starts decreased .04% to 785,000 units, while multi-family remained unchanged at 354,000 units. Total U.S. permits, an indicator of future construction, decreased by 1.7% to 1,269,000 units (SAAR).

• Northeast (- 4.4%)
• Midwest (- 17.6%)
• South (- 7.2%)
• West (+ 31.4%)
